Sunday morning came early it seemed. I awoke to the kids morning time call. Got up and realized I had a long run ahead of me. Yes I am in training for the half marathon with my wife. I had 11 miles to run that morning. I am not a morning person to begin with so to run 11 miles first thing is not easy. Well once i got out there the peace and quiet and just listening to my ipod was what i needed. Until my knees started to give out on me. Thankfully Rebekah came out to see how i was doing. I only ran 9 miles that day. Knee braces should cure my problem i hope but only time will tell. After some rest i got a call that will remain in my children's memory for some time. A friend of mine is instructing a firefighting course and they were going to be burning an old house in the afternoon. What a great photo opportunity. The kids were so excited to be able to see such a thing. I am so thankful that the whole crew in the course was more than willing to let me be involved and take some great shots.
After watching the guys do a few burns in different rooms of the house it was finally time to burn it to the ground. It was such a great day as the guys were always explaining all the procedures and the way the fire works. It turned out to be a very informative day. They were very open to discuss anything you wanted to know. I learned quit a bit that afternoon. As the afternoon went on the house erupted in flames and became a show that won't be forgotten anytime soon. Many thanks to the local fire department and my good friend Jay. Good times.
Oh, gosh, we need to talk to him about letting our kids see one of those. They would LOVE it. But it'd have to be on a day when Dave's off work, or he'd die of jealousy. :-)
